Use in Ayurved: E.officinalis are attributed to its strong antioxidant action. E. officinalis is extremely nutritious and might be a chief dietary source of vitamin C. Amla is used to treat skin disorders, respiratory infections, and premature aging. Amla has anti-bacterial and astringent properties that help prevent infection and help in the healing of ulcers. Amla is sometimes used as a laxative to relieve constipation in piles. It is a good hair tonic.  It is beneficial in the treatment of respiratory disorders especially asthma & bronchitis.
