OBESITY

Obesity is an abnormal or excessive accumulation of body fat to the extent that it may have a negative effect on health. Obesity is often multi-factorial based on both genetic&behavioral aspects. Accordingly, treatment of obesity usually requires more than just dietary changes. Being overweight is a significant contributor to many health problems. Obesity is more common in women than in men. In Ayurved it is known as ‘Medoroga’ caused by the aggravation of Kapha.

Symptoms
  • Increased body fat.
  • Excessive sweating with bad odour
  • Excessive weight gain.
  • Lethargy
  • Breathlessness on exertion
Do’s
  • Exercise daily for 35-45 mins.
  • Have more fresh fruits&raw vegetables.
  • Slow down the pace of eating food.
  • Psychological triggers should be avoided.
Don’ts
  • Avoid oily fried foods, processed foods, bakery products, milk products. v
  • Avoid high carbohydrates like polished rice&potatoes.
  • Avoid alcohol&aerated drinks
  • No late dinners.
  • Don’t skip meals
  • No daytime sleeping.
Home Remedies
  • Drink warm water only
  • Take small meals instead of huge meals.
  • Drink green tea instead of regular tea.
  • Mix powders of dry ginger, black pepper&Pippali in the same amounts. Have ½ tsf after meals with warm water.
